Pretty accurate

An excellent tool to plan your route around Tokyo. Im grateful that its free, too! The UI could use some TLC but its clear enough. The accuracy of route planning is better than my other PAID app. Well done and hope to see more updates with tweaks!

Incredibly useful app!

Great app! With this and a map of the Tokyo trains, you will not get lost even if all you know are 4 words in Japanese. The only thing to make it better is adding the station numbers next to the station names so you know in which direction to take the trains. With that information, a complete Japanese newb wouldnt even need to have the map. With the addition of station numbers, Id pay $5 easily for this app.

Does it good?

?. It would be helpful to include the Japanese name for each station as not every station has an English map so at least one can match up the Japanese characters for the non English stations

Fares are sometimes incorrect

The fares between some stations are incorrect. For example, todai-mae to yoyogi-uehara reports 190 yen while it is actually 230. It would also be nice to put Japanese station names and have faster response to clearing and typing station names. Otherwise, its extremely handy for tourists in Tokyo!

Must have app

With this app, I didnt even have to look at a train map at all. Just punch in the station I was at and the name of the train station I want to go to. GUI isnt as polished, but it works well. Future suggestions would be to have a drop down list of stations to select.

Worth its weight in gold

I used this app extensively during a one week vacation in Tokyo. Great time-saver!

Useful free app

Great free app. Got me all over Tokyo without having to figure out the route maps

Nearly Perfect

If you need to get around this app is awesome, offline, and ad-free. It doesnt have times and it doesnt always give you the fastest way there, but it always gets you there. Highly recommended!

Spartan but Effective

We travelled to Japan and, quite frankly, found the subway system baffling. After struggling to (i) reason through variations in ticket prices based on distance to your intended destination using a system where you almost always have multiple route options, (ii) navigate subway maps (the size of a wall, in various stations) that do not show all stops (especially, it seems, if the desired stop does not belong to the same private owner that owns the system that youre using) and (iii) determine whether you really can transfer at the point where two lines appear to intersect (since its not always that simple); this App was a god-send (and Im agnostic)! No frills. So, no maps integration, etc...But, truth be told, frills might only compound the confusion. No networking. But, in light of the exorbitant cost of data roaming in any country (coupled with the near impossibility of obtaining a Japanese sim if you dont intend to stay here long-term), this lack of network dependence served us well. Good accuracy. though we learned that the app doesnt always present the most efficient route. Free. :-) Gradual Learning Curve. Just plug in your then current location and your intended destination and hit search. Takes about 2 minutes to learn to read the results. Auto-complete. Only know half the name of your intended destination? Only enjoy phonetic certainty with respect to the first syllable? No worries, just enter the first few letters, hit the arrow and select your target. Thanks for reading.

Love this app!!

I use this app almost everytime i use the subway. The only annoying part is that everytime i launch the app it resets my previous search. For example, if i searched Higashi-Shinjuku in my last search it becomes Higashi-Abiko in the new launch. It becomes a very annoying chore having to retype Shinjuku. Please fix this. Also, could you add "Favorite Route"? :)

Sad now its free

Still awesome though... Used it to the max before I picked up a car.

A good start

I know its a beta and free, so I will review it accordingly. I think its a really good start. Auto completes the station names and tells you how to get from one to the other. Simple, clean and elegant. If you added the times for departing trains and estimated arrival, I would gladly pay $.99 for this app. If you added destination oriented and complex routing its easily a $4.99-$7.99 app for me. So, allow me to simply start with a destination. Then you use the GPS to locate me and intelligently pick the closest station that will get me there. Allow me to choose fastest route vs. simpliest route. Then build my route: path to station, then train + subway to destination. Finally, if you added complex scheduling its easily a $9.99-$12.99 app. So, real-time schedule information, delay warnings, total travel time (i.e. time on this train+time waiting for next train+time on next train*delays), push alerts for schedule changes/delays on saved "my routes". Thanks for the work and keep it up. I think many of us travelling to Japan that are used to other apps in other counties (look at apps for London tubes for example) would be happy to pay for a quality train app for Japan.

Very Well Worth It!

it is simply the best free train app out there! I can use this without internet in Japan with my iPod Touch so even if Im on the train I dont have to be worried about being connected to the internet. The listing for prices to get there is a plus! This way I can find the cheapest route and charge my Suica with the right amount of money!

Redundant

All subway stations I went to (probably 10 of them) had the fare for each destination on a big sign above the ticket machines already, and in Romaji (not just Japanese). So this app was simply redundant. Save the space on your iPhone for other more useful apps.

Not bad for visitors of Tokyo

This app is pretty nifty if you are coming to Japan for a vacation or plan to stay for a few months. But other than that I prefer the free Japanese app that tells you the time as well as if there are any delays on the train. Great app though! Looking forward to more updates. Who knows... This may become the app I prefer

Very useful

Just got back from Tokyo. I have to say the app is very good. If you get lost and find a train station. Enter in the name and your destination and bam. It tells you which line to take and where to connect. The only confusing part was, I wish it had more information like which track number to take or the last station that line is stopping at. We got lost and spent almost 1 hours going one direction, only to find out we were going the wrong direction and wasting more time back tracking. So maybe in the a future update. Track numbers to take or maybe a minimap of the direction the train will travel so we dont go the wrong direction and having to back track.

Almost perfect

This app is good at leading u to the right line to take. But once your at the right line, you wont know which direction to take or city to head for to get to your destination. Its what u need to know.

WOW amazing App

I flew in Tokyo for 2 weeks and this app allowed me to purchase a passmo card and go directly to the station I needed to go. I felt like I knew the metro better Than the people who live in Japan. I saw soo many people trying to look at the metro map in Japanese and translating it to English to figure out what train to catch. Thank you sooo much for this app.

Sugoi!!!

Great App. Was extremely useful during my trip to Tokyo. This app saved me a lot of time figuring how to get places.

Make a Kansai version please!

This app is simple, effective, and DOES NOT USE DATA! Being independent of any kind of network is a huge huge huge plus! This app is good! Having map integration would make it great. Please make a Kansai Area version. Or at least an Osaka version! My father lives in Osaka and I visit him often so that would be a very big help and I would be willing to pay for that!
