Pros and cons of trains.jp app for iPhone and iPad

trains.jp app good for

An excellent tool to plan your route around Tokyo. Im grateful that its free, too! The UI could use some TLC but its clear enough. The accuracy of route planning is better than my other PAID app. Well done and hope to see more updates with tweaks!
Great app! With this and a map of the Tokyo trains, you will not get lost even if all you know are 4 words in Japanese. The only thing to make it better is adding the station numbers next to the station names so you know in which direction to take the trains. With that information, a complete Japanese newb wouldnt even need to have the map. With the addition of station numbers, Id pay $5 easily for this app.
?. It would be helpful to include the Japanese name for each station as not every station has an English map so at least one can match up the Japanese characters for the non English stations
With this app, I didnt even have to look at a train map at all. Just punch in the station I was at and the name of the train station I want to go to. GUI isnt as polished, but it works well. Future suggestions would be to have a drop down list of stations to select.
I used this app extensively during a one week vacation in Tokyo. Great time-saver!
Great free app. Got me all over Tokyo without having to figure out the route maps

Some bad moments

Feels like an application from the 90s. You can only search places if you know to name of the stations. It doesnt provide a map, it doesnt provide an overview of the lines, its just not good.
Does not include Station Numbers. For routing, it does not include which direction you want to go... e.g. Hibiya Line toward Naka-Meguro. Ticket costs are helpful, but have been wrong occasionally.
The interface is straight forward and the results would be handy if it only gave the most direct travel options. Too often I would get results that required 2 transfers between 3 trains when 1 train would do just fine, but the simplest option didnt show. Back to reading the maps...
I used to use this app all the time. Loved it. Unfortunately, under the iOS 8 the app crashes, and constantly. Please update and FIX THE CRASHES !!
Loved this app and Ive used it last October and now living in Tokyo but it constantly crashes on my new phone. I hope they fix the bug soon.
I cant even put in some station names to search routes, in romaji or in kanji, even though Im spelling them correctly. Defeats the purpose of having the app in the first place. Reading another review, I see its because it doesnt include the Kansai region. It does say that in the description. However, there are other apps that do include Kansai, Kanto, and other areas, making this app a bit moot.
